- Do not use standard com_content and FLEXIcontent together. There are two reason for that: If you edit and article in standard com_content, you won’t update its extended datas. If you don’t unpublish com_content search plugins (content, categories, section) you will get duplicate results
- Create at least one FLEXIcontent’s menu link to avoid for the route.php to work properly.
- The section chosen for FLEXIcontent must contain at least one category with one article inside.
- Be sure to unpublish the search plugin for Joomla search.content to avoid duplicate results.
- To use the comments feature, install JComments component (www.joomlatune.com) Select and enable comments on the general configuration.
- Duplicate and rename the default templates before changing them to avoid losing your adjustments on each component update. The templates can be found in:
components/com_flexicontent/templates - It is recommended to create an item template for each content type to avoid headaches for positioning and ordering fields.
- If you use the FTP layer, be sure to open (chmod-R 777) the following directory:
components/com_flexicontent/libraries/phpthumb/cache

Can I use it with FlexiContnet?
This is Gavick slideshow used without any modifications ;-)
That means yes you can :)
Does it work well with plugins that display content in tabs, slides and iframes?
Hey Tony. Did you ever find out how to unpublish com_content? This remains a big mystery for me. I tried renaming the file com_content and my website went blank with an error message. Now I have a menu tab called FlexiCONTENT in my menu (left of home) and duplicates all over the place. Please enlighten me if you find out. I'm researching like hell and can't find the answer.
The tutorial says: "unpublish the search plugin" NOT the com_content.
It could store all it's caching data in a subfolder within /cache/flexi-foo-bar making it much more comfortable to dump any cached data.
Please rethink the design of this and don't make me pin a whole in my server's access rules :-)
I like the component a lot but this is a very annoying if not unnecessary prerequisite.
