Formatting without css programming knowledge

I like the potential of the group field function but would like to format my groups and custom fields. Below is my site and how I am trying to create a book information page using custom fields, types, and templates.

How can I create templates with multiple columns or place grouped fields into different positions within my template such as on the left side?

I would also like to give my grouped fields different background colors or other css formatting. I am not a programmer and appreciate any help to add css script or other extensions I could use to accomplish what I want to do.

you need to learn basic css rule like background:yourcolor; or width:200px; etc
we can't do it for you.. it's not realy flexicontent problem
