Remove meta name="title"?

Is it possible to remove meta name="title" from item pages?

You can execute inside your item.php :

JFactory::getDocument()->setMetaData('title', null);

but no need for the above ...

I have removed it just now
In the past had marked this as no longer needed

- Since the search engines ignore it and no longer use it , because of wide bad usage of it
Instead search engines will use the HTML <title> TAG
because the above is the real title shown to the visitors too

Also i see Joomla no longer adds it either in its core components views, except for the "newsfeeds" ?

Yes, this is a reason why I want to remove it.
We need to reduce the code.
