How about a different template in frontend editing

Is this already possible in Joomla?
It would be a time saving feature, so we won't need to care about inserting/merging the edit styles inside the site CSS.

So far, on the editbutton function in components/com_flexicontent/templates/classes/flexicontent.helper.php, I changed the line where it reads:

Code:
$link = $item_url .(strstr($item_url, '?') ? '&' : '?'). 'task=edit';
into this:

Code:
$link = $item_url .(strstr($item_url, '?') ? '&' : '?'). 'task=edit&template=protostar';

sorry i didn't understand why ?

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

For instance, frontend editing using the template Protostar can be much cleaner than using our own template.
Also, our template wouldn't need so many styles related to Joomla itself.

Hello

joomla template is loaded / joomla,
so this is a general Joomla question and not FLEXIcontent specifc one

Thinking of this,
-- since frontend templates are assigned to menu items
this question becomes how to use a different menu item ...

so test:
&Itemid=NNN
e.g.
&Itemid=121

Then we could have ... a menu item per ... content for the case of form,

-- now it is possible (v3) to configure content type to always use a specific menu item, instead of the corresponding menu item of the category
-- test the above with the menu item and i will open an enhancement issue, for adding parameter, and implementation code in a future version

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Absolutely!
Adding the &Itemid=xxx at the end of the editing url works as expected.

So yes, please add this new parameter.
I guess you will also add a new menu type which might be named "Item Form", right?
