pseudo-alpha-index, fed from part of field

uh, i'm stuck on this one:

i have a category page. items on that page have a date-field (~"text:time/date/"etc...).
now i need something like the alpha index ([A] [ B] .. [Z]), but with links/values like
[2010] [2011] [2012] [2013] [2014] [2015]
These links do not need to be generated automatically.
It is not an option to work with "year"-categories here.

the questions that i have are:
- do i use "filters" for that?
- is there a way to just type html-links with url parameters like ?fieldname=2010
- if the fieldvalue is, say, 24.12.2010, where and how do extract the year part?

thanks a lot for pointing me into the right direction!

Hello

you will need to create an appropriate field, and then if you need a PSEUDO - alphaindex you will have to create it manually

by adding javascript to manipulate on their onclick event
action="..." of the form

you need to know javascript to do this, and i see that you don't

-- i strongly suggest that you use a date field as filter with display "radio" or checkboxes
