How do I stop flexicontent from changing the urls from something like

index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=231:membership&catid=10&Itemid=826

to

/about/membership

Whenever I add a link to another page and hit APPLY, flexi changes the link to a hard coded one. So if the page moves to another location on the site, that link becomes dead. When I use com_content instead of flexicontent, it works fine.

Please help. Thanks so much!

Hello

the SEF link that you posted is a menu item link, it is not FLEXIcontent item link
- all menu links are like that

the problem that you report applies to all menu items regardless of the component

e.g. changing
/cat1-alias-menu/343-itemalias

changed to (after moving the item to other category)
/cat2-alias-menu/343-itemalias

then old URL of the FLEXIcontent item view will work !!
it does not break

similar if you do not have a menu item directly to the category:
e.g.
/alias1-menu/44-catid/343-itemalias

changed to (after moving the item to other category)
/alias2-menu/55-catid/343-itemalias

the old URL will not break

Sorry, I meant it happens in the wysiwyg editor, only when using flexicontent. Nothing to do with menu items. If I unpublish the flexicontent plugin, which loads com_content, and then I link to a page within the wysiwyg editor, it keeps the link. What file is in charge of changing that in flexicontent within an editor, like TINYMCE or JCE?

The URLs are changed because you have SEF plugins enabled
and it is default Joomla behaviour
- routing is applied to the URL and as SEF urls is created , selecting an appropriate menu item too
