Additional Category Fields

Hi - I know that we have Primary and secondary category fields. My request is different.

I have a website which lists restaurants and I have created various categories like restaurants, cafes, bars etc. I have also created fields like location, cuisine, cost etc. My request is that if I could have these fields as a separate category field. This would be a huge help, as these would be linked to a host of other other items.

I tried to duplicate the category field but it is not allowed. Can you help please?

Cheers!

Hello

you can do it already
- edit your field
and at the left TABset, select it to be "Filterable"
and then go to the right TABset, and find the "Filtering" TAB

there, you can select how the field filter will be displayed
- select drop down
- multi-select drop down
- checkbox / checkbox image
- radio / radio image
- slider
- slider range
- text search

also you can create "category" menu items and in them "lock" the value of some filters (= preselect some value)

Thanks for the reply. I think what you are referring to is the searching by filter for a particular field.

What I was suggesting was that one creates multiple category fields. Is that possible?

Thanks

adding field in category .... not sure that a good idea ... i think concept to create type for a category is better like
in category
moto
|_year
|_honda
|_susuky
can be in type + field
vehicul + field type + field year + field marque (with cascading field)
more simple to use and more expendable

Thanks Micker for the response. Having too many categories could become confusing as the number of items grow. I intend to have about 15 K items. This would mean having 400 to 500 different categories which would be unmanageable.

However, it would be easier if there were multiple category fields. I know it can be done with tags but it is not possible to have select tags.

Cheers!

Another thought - Is there a way that I can duplicate the "Tags" field?

Cheers!
