Category parameters do nothing

Anyone ever have a category that will not accept changes to the parameters?

I have a category that no matter what parameters I change, it does not take hold on the site. Specifically, the category has the search box on it, which I do not want but turning off the "use search box" option does nothing. I've even tried changing the category template and it still does nothing. I have a few categories that are doing this.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the particular template that I want assigned to the category. I've also cleared the cache in both joomla and my browser.

Strangely, the changes still do not apply to my category.

This one does not work correctly:

Notice that I can't get the SEARCH field off of the Buddha category and the sub-categories do not show up below.
