Multilanguage 1.5 best practice with last build?

Hi,

We've installed joomla 1.5 with Flexi r1329 and joomfish.
Our site will be multi-language.

Have as reference this faq: www.flexicontent.org/documentation/faq/4...nd-flexicontent.html
what is the actual best practice to translate content and fields taking in account last changes to Flexi?

Thanks in advance, ;)

ALTERNATIVE 1:
If you don't translate custom fields, i suggest using joomfish for translating items, because of the benefit of having
- a single item per content,
- the new version can load frontend/backend all translations in a single item edit form with javascript tabs !!!
-- Hits and votes are shared (we plan to do this for the alternative too)

ALTERNATIVE 2:
If you translate custom fields, then you should use item language associations (THIS is the only option for J2.5) this associates original content items with their translating items, and allows automated switching in the frontend
Benefit:
- you can translate all (also custom) fields
- you can declare some fields as untranslatable (will share values with the original content item)

Disadvantage:
- can NOT (yet) share of hits / votes since items are different
- you need to create multiple items for every translation of the original content

Thank you ggppdk your feedback really helps.

We implemented ALTERNATIVE 2 and works ok, except for only a little problem:

Sometimes when using in the backend a item form with costume fields the changes won't saves. No error, just don't save changes in the fields.

During installation the new column 'untranslatable' for the fields DB Table was not created properly.

This was fixed in r1230.

I don't know if this was your problem, since because of the missing column, the field edit form could be saved.

Please test with 1230 and report back here

Regards
