Hi

I want to use a simple file field(Just browse) in "front end" for users, How is it possible?

Sometimes A file manager with tons of features to upload an image is "too much".

I'm using the 1601 build.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance

maybe you can overide view ?

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Currently

file field uses the fileelement view

which is a somewhat lighter version of filemanager view

I understand that sometime it maybe desirable for file field to only show a simple file input form field , this has some implications with using the other features of file field, like
- multi-value and
- deleting values
- selecting other existing values,
- imposing maximum limitation
so to make it bond together with other features of file field will require work

currently this is not available

I have some thoughts of this and
i have opened an enhancement issue:

Enhancement Issue 552

just note this is low priority now

Hello,
this post is 2 years old but as i have seen here
github.com/FLEXIcontent/flexico ... issues/128
still actual.

So to stay in work with the files manager. It should be fine to override the front end view.
Using the file
administrator/components/com_flexicontent/views/filemanager/tmpl/default.php
i am able to modify the backend view. Not my goal.

But in the file
components/com_flexicontent/views/filemanager/tmpl/default.php
this is the same file that is required. But no change.

What have i missed?

Is it clear for me that is not a fine solution to simpify the file field in front end.

Hello

sorry,

not possible to do, due to little time for such a feature, although it is nice and maybe not so difficult, it does need some time and planning, (planning to make it properly so that we do it bonds well with existing implementation, since we don't want to re-write the file field)

reason we have other priorities:
-- just finished FIELD grouping, all multivalue fields can be grouped, ... and filtering, existing values, etc, work
-- powerful cascading for fields (is almost done):
select
selectmultiple
radio (TODO)
radioimage (TODO)
checkbox (TODO)
checkboximage (TODO)
-- revised all backend UI !!! ... !!!
-- templating work, e.g. we will have a template selector in frontend to switch layouts: e.g. list, table, blog
(this is already supported we need to finish the selector)
-- remaining multi-list views except search will use the category model and templating: tags, favourites,
(mostly done)
-- new configuration based on dependencies hides parameters in component, modules and plugins, TODO for categories in v3.1
-- more work on frontend templating
and others !!
-- other !!

we are quite busy with v3

if a developer does this for you, may contribute code in GitHub, otherwise we will do in a future version

Regards

Hi,
i am aware that your ToDo list is full.
I do't want to say you to do a simple file field. You had told in another post that it is not your priority. I anderstand.

I am just asking how to 'hack' the front end submission files. (hide some optionnal field as language, ...)

I have found the backend submission file here :
administrator/components/com_flexicontent/views/filemanager/tmpl/default.php

and the modifications affect only backend.

I am asking which file modify for the front end.

Thank for all your work.
