Creating User Profile/Radio Pages - Submit An Online Stream

Hi,

Is it possible to create something like tunein,
Where each member would get their own home page.
Each page would have a web player that allows the
member to edit and add their online Shoutcast stream.
Users could submit a stream url to the player automatically.
And possible some front-end display for features streams.

On tunein they have display modules, each one
represents a stream, when you click the play button
the stream is loaded into the web player on the page.

I'd prefer if i could get a player that sits at the
bottom of the page and doesn't reload when browsing pages, like myspace player maybe.

Haven't done anything with any CCK before.

Thanks

yes it possible ...
1 page => one use (with acl for edit own page)
create field for copy past embed code or use a joomla plugin inside

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Not really sure but i'll give it a go,
Any ideas for a player that could go on each user page?
Something the user/member could update themselves.

Thank you

Hello

this will need some custom work, not possible out of the box

You will need a Shoutcast/Icecast player.

The Muses Radio player plug-in for Joomla could be adapted for FLEXIcontent.
Muses will play MP3, OGG, and AAC streams.

There is already a FLEXIcontent field plug-in for Dewplayer.
I could swap-out the Dewplayer MP3 player and put in the Dewplayer Stream player pretty easily.
It will only play MP3 streams.

I think it's too advanced for what i want to do, maybe.
Is there a tutorial on creating a setup for user pages?

Hello

first please install component on a test installation (you have done this already?), to see what is available,

1. then visit the author backend tab and edit an author, and review what is available,
(each author can have a "description-profile" item)

2. create an "Author" menu item

3. create a "Myitems" menu item

sorry but the author/user stuff is work in progress (now), some things need a some work on your part:

e.g. making a user/author listing is not yet directly supported,
-- but you can make a link to the category that contains the user description-profile items,

e.g. no field to link to author view,
-- but possible and not difficult to do:
How to create a field that links to author listing view of current item author

in short make a test site, review component, and check out our FAQ articles,
and then you decide if it covers your needs ;)

in the test site you may also install other user-handling components to review

Regards

Hi

There is one author in the Authors tab,
My main user (Super User) is that correct
Or do you mean I have to add each user i want to be able to create/edit their own page?

I noticed when i enabled the Universal Content Module for FLEXIcontent
I put it in the center bottom position on the home page.
If i log out, as a guest if i click an item, or read more,
I get options to edit that item, as if i'm logged in as admin.

Hello

- either you are still logged in for some reason (maybe some auto login plugin?)

- or due to ACL privileges your guest have edit privileges, please check your ACL

- or you have discover a FLEXIcontent bug ??

please check number 2 , and if you still have a problem then send me a PM with instructions on how to replicate this

Regards

Not sure,

If we're talking about global configurations in joomla
Then under permissions i can see;
Guests > Edit, Edit state, Edit Own, those are set to Allowed, i set those to Denied.
For Public, everything is set to "Not Set".
I'm guessing i needed to create an "Item submission Form" menu item also?
I don't fully understand the permissions/ACL setup.
If i'm logged in as a member and click that Item Submission link,
It says, You are not authorized to create content
God i have too much to learn :)

In order to configure the (Frontend) Submit/Edit ITEM FORM, please set:
(a) Form Configuration in Component and Content Type,
(b) 'Create' / 'Edit' ACL for Category and Types, etc
(c) Author/User group limitations, etc

-- So enable/use the following overrides only if needed,

-- The above mentioned configuration and ACL are needed ANYWAY in various cases and places.
