Linking carousel images

I used universal module to create a carousel of images my users will upload. I then create a field called slide_url_link so that each image uploaded will link to this URL the user puts into this field. But I can't get it to work so that the images actually link to anything.

Here is how I am displaying images in caraousel:

So how do I get this URL field apply to an image? I even tried enabling the LINK TO A URL section but it seems to have no effect: screencast.com/t/FcsMESOFS

you need to create your template
duplicate carrousel.php and carrousel folder and rename it
edit carrousel.php ..

I did that but nothing I did worked. I am not a coder. What would code be to put in that file? Here are my 2 fields:

I am not asking you to build me a template. I have already done those instructions you linked to. I'm well beyond that. I'm simply asking what code do I use to make the image field link up to what the end user puts in the slide_url_field. Please help.

You gladly help everyone else here with tons of php code and you can't help me at all by telling me what php code to put in this carasoul template for my specific instance? I'm confused then what the purpose of the forum is then.

The main reason felxicontent was made is so people who AREN'T coders can make custom fields and apps that show in the front. So most likely, half the people using flexi are not php programers. It doesn't seem helpful to turn people away like that.
