Long Upload Times was created by chenz2
I am uploading images into Flexicontent 1.5.5 stable (r607). It takes 1 second to upload and then 20 seconds for flexicontent to process the image. How do I shorten this? I am on a vps linux that is very fast, so it's not the server speed.

This kind of behavior is usually involves a timeout of something, e.g. the page is loading an image or css/js file from another server. Or a filesystem timeout or something.

I can see that the file is small so it cannot be long upload time.

Does this happen only when you upload or when saving always?

Regards

Thanks for the reply. It is just as the video shows. I browse for the file and choose one. It then begins uploading and doing something (maybe processing the different thumbnails?) but it takes anywhere from 20-27 seconds an image. It wouldn't have anything to do with loading any css or js files because the page itself is already loaded. It's just uploading images that is seems to take so long. I've spent so many weeks getting this to work for my online store, and to run into an issue like this is frustrating because it was so perfect for my needs. Is there any way to find out what is causing this?

I did a #top command to look at my processes while flexicontent is processing and it just says this:

4015 life 25 0 182m 41m 24m R 99.9 1.0 0:18.37 php

Does that help at all?

Possibly you could use firebug addon for mozilla to monitor the network requests, its show load times for any individual operation, html document, image, js file etc.

Try this to see if you find something, and POST back here ...

I don't have any idea why it is taking too long, because i see that you images size is only 300k and you have not mentioned to have an upload delay problem elsewhere.

It could involve some time out of some kind. But you can check you traffic in realtime per IP with some tools e.g. netlimiter or Eset Smart security, to see if uploading goes in seconds and then there is long delay. [attachment=0:3joiuzl0]<!-- ia0 -->netw.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:3joiuzl0]

It's not the upload that takes long. It is the processing of the image that seems to be taking so long. The image itself uploads in 1 second. Whatever flexicontent is doing is what is taking so long and that's why I need help in figuring out what that is. I will look at those tools but hopefully they aren't ones that just check upload issues. I need something to track what flexicontent is doing that is taking so long.

The reason is very probably a timeout of some kind, can you test with latest version from SVN?

I just tried re-uploading the r607 over my current installation and the upload works fine now. Thank you for your help.
