The issue you're talking about has already been solved by a plugin:
www.flexicontent.org/forum/index.php?f=23&t=710&rb_v=viewtopic
It allows you a standard behavior as long as the articles from different languages share the SAME ALIAS.
Concerning the choice I've made concerning JoomFish integration, my clients found that more practicle to have everything at the same place instead of having to manage translation.
