Limitating number of creating/publishing articles 09-13-2023

Hello,

R1656, Started support for adding Access Level and ACL action CREATE for Content Types.

With this New ACL, Would you be able to add limiting number of creating/publishing articles?
For example, I want to allow some authors to create up to 5 articles only as trial.
It would be nice if we could set it by each user or each group.

No this is parameter in that is meaningful to go to the author parameters of the author manager

Implementation is rather easy , a parameter and a very light SQL query.

Would you please add this in coming version?

The reason for doing this update in r1656 was that it was there, because it was there (accesss level for Content Types) but not was ignored / not implemented,


What you suggest is interesting , and will be added as soon as J3.x support is finished.

And will be added along with user-group management , because all these ACL stuff are easier/faster to assign to user-groups, instead of editing individual users

Of course ALL parameters for user-group will be also available to individual authors for fine-tuning

It is just that the amount of small things TODO is big descpite the fact that flexicontent component/module/plugin parameters gives you hundrends of small / medium or big features more that other CCKs.

Plus , even if you have 2000 features, and you get the component broken in 1 or 2 important places , it makes the component look bad. And v2.0.1 risk gets broken with new features already.

If i manage to make it today (i ll make some work on author manager), then ok, otherwise, i can estimate to you that this feature will be available within a month.

added this (for v2.0.1),
added maximum number of articles limitation
and also distinguished 2 "unauthorized" URLs

1. General unauthorized view URL (in FC component config)
2. Cannot create any or more content (in FC component config and override in submit menu item)

This will make it easier for subscriber sites

Plus besides the max number of articles limitation, do not forget that we have the "Edit-Value" ACL privilege which you can assign to user groups,

thus some fields can be available to only to "paying users" or special users

... to avoid assigning it to every individual user ! (and save time ...)

User management with Content Limitations same as Content Limitation for Author will be in v2.0.2 (or later)

Content Limitation is just the beginning.. and I LOVE IT.
Still there are some more step to go I guess..

1. General unauthorized view URL (in FC component config)

I have a few different type of contents, e.g. used car, real estate and so on and I want to make different Unauthorized page for each TYPE.
At the moment, I can only set a SINGLE Unauthorized Page(General non Authorized Viewing) in Global config... I guess it would be very nice if we could set Unauthorized Page for each TYPE, thus if no Unauthorized Page found in TYPE then will be linked to Unauthorized Page in Global config.

I understand that content limitation assigning to each user group will be very useful and I will need this as well but please keep the content limitation assigning to each author as well. For example, in RealEstate user group, RealEstate A wants to pay only for 10 contents and RealEstate B wants 20 contents.

I have new request regarding this feature.
I want to select TYPEs while setting content limitation for author.
For example, RealEstate A is an author of real estate and also RealEstate A can create contents for other TYPE as well, like Blog or something. Because of contents limitation, RealEstate A now can not create contents for Blog. So it would be nice to have a dropdown to select multiple TYPEs in Author setting.

I have already installed it from svn.
By the way, I would like to display maximum number of articles limitation and number of articles created for current loggedin user on side Login module position by using NoNumber Sourcerer.
So can you please tell me which file has articles limitation source code?
