Auto-Publish/Auto-Unpublish by Type

Hello,

I would like to hear your opinion about my request.

Request:
Allowing Auto-Publish/Auto-Unpublish by Type would be really great option.

For example,
1) Author creates an article, if no action taken by admin then it will be auto-published in given period(10hours or 1day).
2) Articles will be unpublished when number of published date reaches to given period (No Use, 1week, 1month, 3month)
3) Those setting should be available in Global and Type. Having "Emailing to Author" option would be the best.

Maybe, for his work, FC should check publish/unpublish dates whenever users load item list or item.
I guess this will definitely increase loading time(maybe not too much).
Otherwise, FC will review all the items when server time is between 1:00-3:00AM.

Regards,
Brandon

why you didn't use unpublished date ?
if you select it items are unpublished ?
you can try a component for this (maybe work with FLEXIcontent)
check here
extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... nt/archive

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

We have already added auto-check-in to flexicontent system plugin with minimal cost for page loading (for tables : 'content', 'categories', 'modules', 'menu')

what you suggest maybe more intensive and it maybe better done with a CRON PHP script ?

I am afraid that I don't know much about CRON PHP script.
But I guess this feature could be the one of major needed function for site, like Real estate, Used car, Business directory or Job site where many authors involve.

 Now I know how CRON works...and I guess this is the best way to realize it.

The questions you pose here sound of a subscription site (you have mentioned in another thread)

-- Maybe it is not best to think of changing item state like this

Maybe it is better to
- use the article DB properties: publish-up , publish-down,
- and add parameters in FLEXIcontent Content Type (edit form)

1. FOR non-publishers people :
setup a publish UP offset (e.g. after one day) publish Down Offset (e.g)
these will be applied automatically to the publish-up publish-down dates of the content items when the user submits the item.
Of course the administrator can intervene to change them

I think this is simpler solution and fits better the DB design of having these DB table columns (publish-up and publish-down)

Hello,

these are for v2.0.2+ or higher,

for now you should use this plugin that you mentioned,

if your site does not have 50,000 of items then you should not have any performance problems

Regards
