[SOLVED, filter by trash, category must be empty] Categories remain even after trashing

I have noticed that even after I trash some categories, they continue to remain in the drop down while creating an item. This means that if one one was to add say 10 categories and then delete them, these categories would exist in the drop down. So for users who are creating new items, choosing the category could be both confusing and painful. Can you have a look

these do not appear in item form

to permanently delete them filter in category manager by "Trashed" state , then select and delete them

i have tested and it works,

you did not say what does not work,
the category was not deleted or it was deleted and it still appears in the category selector if the items manager

also was there some warning message when you deleted the category,?

also the category should not contain any items in order be permanently deleted
