How do nested categories work?

Hello,

I am new to Flexicontent and would like to understand the mechanism of nested categories. The reason I chose Flexicontent is that the sturcture of my site cannot be built meaningfully using Joomla sections/categories.

What I learnt is that an item (article) can be assigned to severeal categories. Ok so far. I have a gaming site where several items belong to several categories (xbox, ps3 etc.). I would like to publish all items on frontpage and on the category pages only items which correspond to the category. The main pont is that I don't want to double the content, I only want to write an item once.

I set the frontpage to category/blog layout, and I set the parameter to Flexicontent/News. Ok so far, items are displayed properly. However when I set the Xbox menu to category/blog layout, and set the parameter to Flexicontent/Xbox, only those items are published which has Xbox as primary category. If the news is the primary and xbox is not, that item only appears on the frontpage.

So I'm stuck here I do not know how to achive that the item should appear in all categories regardless of which the primary is.

Can you have a hint, please? Thank you.

hello flexicontent isn't compatible with front page plugin !
when you create a link menu use flexicontent option not joomla article !

to do your homepage
-created a home categorie
-created your home template
-assign template to categorie
-duplicte your item in your home categorie
-do a default link for your flexicontent categorie in your menu

to created a more complexe homepage try aidanews module for flexicontent (you can load module in flexicontent)

it's realy usefull to select article by date authors categorie etc...
