Hi there,

Does anybody have any suggestions how to make the A-Z index to work with extended characters?
I want to add Swedish characters ÅÄÖ to the index.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Thanks,
Sune

Thanks to Kenmcd suggestions the new 1.5.6 beta has a very powerful and flexible Alpha Index

1. An Alpha Index character (called character entity) can be:
a single character e.g. c
a character range e.g. (a-f)
a character alias e.g # for number
a character aggregation e.g. fgh

2. Added separator, you can customize per category and

3. Added support for per current frontend language string (at the frontend language file of FlexiContent)

4. New category option to use a custom Alpha Index List for each category while maintaining support for per language ALPHA-Index !!!

5. Character Entity groups e.g. one group Latin characters, and one for current language and one for numbers

6. Good description for the use of Alpha Index, so that it is understandable to the users

7. UTF-8 character support in all above character entity cases

8. (TODO) to add a language string and a category option for more custom aliases e.g ε=εέ!!α=αά

Regards

Sune,

Right now with FLEXIcontent v1.5.5 the only way to add characters to the alpha-index is to edit the alpha-index file in the template folder (category_alpha.php).
You must edit that file to add your characters.

In upcoming FLEXIcontent v1.5.6 ggppdk has greatly expanded the features and the flexibility of the alpha-index.
By default the character list is now taken from the language file.
So after all the usual Swedish characters are added to the language file, the alpha-index will by default show those characters.

Additionally the alpha-index characters list can be customized using each category parameters settings.
It is very flexible now.

If you would like to test this for us, I can provide a current build of the SVN for you to download and test.
And I will move this thread to the Developers forum and you will become an official tester (a.k.a guinea pig). ;)
I have been testing the new features, but I would also like to get some feedback from users in other countries.

Regards,

Ken

I talked with Emmanuel today

The release of v1.5.6 will be before end of month, currently Emmanuel is compiling the lists of new features and bug fixes, and then me and enjoyman will review it too.

So in a week or a little more, Emmanuel will announce a new version ...
