Auto Assign Menu items

Hi,
I'm implementing flexicontent + flexiaccess for an existing intranet.

This site has some 300 menu items to individual (com_content) articles. Is there a way of auto re-assigning these menu items to the corresponding flexicontent items?

I tried changing the componentid value in the jos_menu table but this does not change the link to the actual article, & nor does it really change the menu type. Any suggestions?

Another related issue, some of these (com_content) articles contain links to other articles - again, is there a way of auto reassigning these links to their companion flexicontent items?

Thanks,
Eddie

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

.
Hmmmm . . . was playing around with this . . .
. . . sort of thinking out loud Eddie . . .

You need to change three things in the jos_menu table:
- link
- componentid
- parameters

Using the DB Replacer component from NoNumber you can easily find-and-replace data in the database.

Link:

A link like this
index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5

would become a link like this
index.php?option=com_flexicontent&view=items&cid=44&id=5

So just search this
com_content&view=article

and replace with this
com_flexicontent&view=items

The problem is the cid (category ID).
FLEXIcontent adds the category id to the link to deal with the multi-category feature.
How to work around this will depend on your unique situation.

ComponentID:
Replace the com_content component id with the com_flexicontent component id.

Parameters:
If all your links are article (or now item) links,
you should be able to replace this with a standard set of parameters.

So the one issue remaining is how to deal with the CID.

What are your thoughts on this?
