I did contact the administrator of my server on the subject of memory to php.ini.
They answered was that it could be a low memory issue if I were in a virtual private server. But this is not my case.

My guess is some element is loaded by the backend category creation page, that timeouts

e.g. a javascipt file from external server,
this could because of some extension you have install.

Nothing more.
