In the last version of FC,
In the backend when you are editing a category you have:

the Parameters:Basics
with
Override Layout file (in tmpl folder) set to default.

As I am working on overriding edit form, I would like to understand this option.

Somebody could tell how works this feature and how to add new layout files?

thanks

Just go to template manager and copy the template of your choice.

Then alter the files of the templates

Each template has 2 layout
-- item layout and
-- category layout

inside the templates folder
-- file item.php is the file used by the item layout
-- files category_*.php are the files used by category layout

Thanks for the quick answer but to do that i am using:

Under "Appearance Theme (Select Layout)"

And I choose one of my templates:
Category layout - select template

I should not understand something or it is a kind of duplicate thing?

mmm By "Theme" we mean something like "Appearance template"

I am playing with overriding, it works fine but I have a small problem.
(FC 1.5.5)

I would like to filter the categories accessible in the form (new&edit form):
set as hidden the main category and have a single list with 4 categories.

I know that in the new version, this seems possible but I still with 1.5.5 until September.

There is an easy way to do that? I have probably to play with cid...
