renaming a template was created by hede
Is there any option for renaming a template without copying it and hence loosing all field associations?

Cheers

hello,

you can rename it directly by rename folder with ftp access, without lost any associations ;)

Thank you. I tried that earlier and it doesn't work for me - I loose all field/zone relations. Apart from that Im pretty sure it screws up other things too. Because renaming it back to the original name brings back the temporarily lost relations which is a hint that informations about the templates name are stored somewhere else additionally.

The template name is used in DB Table jos_flexicontent_templates, this DB Table stores assignment of fields to template positions for item/category layouts.

Trying executing this in phpmyadmin:

UPDATE `jos_flexicontent_templates` SET template = 'newname' WHERE template = 'oldname'

and then renaming the template folder

NOTE:
-- Replace jos_ with your Joomla DB table prefix
-- Better backup your jos_flexicontent_templates DB table, before executing the above query

Regards

Thanks. But this to do is simply not possible for my site editors, they dont have DB access, not to mention the necessary skills. I think that is a very much needed feature for all FC users.

Noone said that this was meant for general users,
i was just answering your question.

Also this forum thread was not submitted as a feature request but as "General support"

To add this, is very much possible, i have opened and enhancement issue, will implement in a future version
