[Added in r1376] How-to check-in items when logging out

If I edit an item from the frontend view, the item will correctly checked-out so that no one else can edit this item during my editing, and if I Save or Cancel, the item is also correctly checked-in.
But if I'm in the "frontend edit view" and log me out, without to Cancel or to Save the item, the item is still blocked for any other user.
In the backend the lock-symbol (in checkbox column of the items overview) which indicates that the item is currently edited removes correctly after logging out from the system but it is not editable because the title is grayed out and not linked, the frontend tells any other user that technically has the rights to edit, that another user is still editing this item.
The Joomla "Maintenance: Global Check-In" - view indicates also that this item is still checked-in.
Is there any possibility to check-in all items which just were in edition if the user logs out manually or is logged out by the system if the session is over?

I use FC 2.0 (r1338) / J2.5.5

FLEXIcontent items are Joomla articles, so if some joomla system plugin exists that does this, it will work with FLEXIcontent too.

Since this is a Joomla question maybe look into joomla forums
Also read this (it is for J1.5)
forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=326&t=244000

It is possible to add some check to FLEXIcontent system plugin for this or to backend items manager, to check if users of locked items are no longer locked, but not sure if we should do this.

Thank you for your help. I just tested this case on a fresh J2.5.6 installation without flexicontent.
And it's the same: If I use the logout button from the standard login-module, without to save or cancel the just edited/opened item in the frontend, the item isn't checked in again.
I don't understand this behaviour in a standard joomla module. If I click "logout" it's the same for me like clicking "cancel" and then "logout". (It's an intentional action) I don't know how to explain this silly additional step to my customers
Or is there a reason i miss? By the way, in the backend it isn't possible to log out before cancelling oder saving the item correctly. I didn't test the cases a session runs out, there I'd also like to auto checkin the items.

mmm, it is possible to check-in all items that are checked-out by unlogged users.

This can be done via a Joomla system plugin, e.g. in our FLEXIcontent system plugin.

This will put a little more work on the plugin since it would make the check for such items on every page load ...
