Blog view with no items

Hi,

sometimes FC seems to be inconsistent with Joomla. One example. I tried to have a blog view with item number 0. For Joomla this makes sense if yo have a menu item pointing to a catgory blog and linking to a item in that category, because the blog menu item is then highlighted.

Anyway, there is not option "show x number of items" in category options or category menu item options. I found a number setting under pagination in the category options, which makes not really sense, but works. If I set the number there to 0, all articles in the category are shown, which makes even less sense. By the way, there is also no option to show a number of article links like in the normal Joomla setting.

mmm, behavior of components is not 100% same because of design choices, and also the parameters available are not 100% same. FLEXIcontent is meant to be DB compatible in storing data, (and also respecting the majority of existing com_content parameters) but they are not meant to show content in the same way

If something is important functionality, you can always suggest changes or point it out as a bug too ;)

So if some new J2.5 com_content/com_categories parameter is missing in flexicontent parameters you can point this it out, but if we add it there then we will also have to change our code to respect and use it , and this may lead to conflicts ...

The FLEXIcontent parameter, you speak of is the number of items per page. Setting this parameter to zero is used for listing the items via a special template like FAQ template and maybe others too.

I will review the issue you point out, to see if we can make some enhancement ... without causing any conflicts.

Currently you can use the directory view too

Maybe, we could add an extra parameter for this

I am currently doing a redesign of our company homepage using FC with Angie Radtke (the designer of the Beez template). She found a way to use the pagination parameter in the template to use 0 articles in blog view. I am going to post this soon!

The following statement
Code:
<?php if($this->params->get('limit')!=0) : ?>
just before
Code:
<section class="<?php echo $classnum; ?>">
displays 0 articles in blog view if pagination numbers is set to 0!

Don't forget to close the if statement!
