[SOLVED] how to get a custom field's value with FC 1.5.6.+

hi!

probably a stupid question, but i've been working in other worlds for a while, FC got updated meanwhile, and

i need to update a few of m old FC-templates, where i used to do this:

$val = $item->fields->value;

this code now throws:

Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$value in

- what would be the updated synthax?
- where could i have found the answer without bothering you here?

forgot to mention:
in this case we're talking about a multiselect field.
but of course it's important to know for simple fields like "text", too.

You will need to add a "renderonly" position in your template or create field by calling a function
