Rows & Columns, Default value in Text area

I have seen options for rows and columns when i was creating the text area i have put in various values inside them but i have not seen any changes in the frontend.
Can you please tell me what those values are meant for?

I have also seen the default value option i have given a default value but that does not appear anywhere on the frontend when i save the article without entering any other data!

For textarea field, the default value is loaded only for new items only,

in future we will be adding parameter to load default value for existing items, like we did for text field

about rows and columns this is are not for frontend, the are for frontend/backend item edit form

So these rows and columns do they decide the size of the editor?
There is another field 'Editor Height' that determines the height.

I put in various values for rows and articles but i did not see any visual changes in the frontend/backend item type form.

I still don't understand the use of Rows and Columns.
Can you please explain

These are used when displaying field in item form without HTML Editor
And editor height is used when displaying HTML Editor but some editors may also use rows and cols, i will make parameters more clear,
