Re-using entire FC set-up

Hi,

I'm looking for some "heads-up" and guidance before moving on with my FC usage.

I've developed a site with many different categories, types, fields and template etc. And i will apply it to many client sites.
For some of them, i will simply do a fresh install from an akeeba backup and start from scratch. Which is fine. But for others there will be a migration process done initially from J1.5 without FC to J2.5 with FC.

So my question is:
is it possible to first do a normal migration using a script from J1.5 to J2.5, then install FC and finish by moving all my FC templates as well as a dump of all FC tables from my master FC site?

I would like to avoid having to re-set-up all the types, fields ... on this newly migrated site.

And more importantly: is there any major red flag i should be aware of? will that cause a risk to mess-up FC afterwards?

I hope i was clear enough (just finish a long coding marathon!!!).

Thanks a lot in advance.

Yes,
1. Upgrade J1.5 sites (without FC installed) to J2.5 and then install FC

NOTE: in J2.5 there is a limitation, ALL joomla articles become FC items (in J1.5 you could limit this to a single J1.5 section)

2. For J1.5 sites with FLEXIcontent already installed it is worth buying fleximigrate tool from netassopro

Actually, all though your answer triggered my interest for another question i had, i think i need to refine my initial question to be more clear. Sorry about that.

What i meant is: is it possible to copy the following tables to a clean install of FC in order to quickly have the same types, fields and templates set-up:
_flexicontent_fields
_flexicontent_fields_type_relationship
_flexicontent_templates
_flexicontent_types

That would help me to speed up the process to re-use a FC set-up i have on another website. But i'm talking about moving only the above tables and the not the items (content itself) and not the categories either.
I've looked at the FC sql tables and i do not see anything that would create issues or corrupted data after moving them to the new site and on long term. I know i can technically move these tables to another DB :)

But since i'm not a guru i wanted to hear from developers their opinion.

Cheers

ps: Having a way to export a "FC App" would be a great feature to have in the future. That would allow developer/designer to zip a set of types, fields and templates to be install via an FC installer on any site site running FC. That would greatly help to create a bigger community around FC. It's so powerful, it just a pleasure to work with.

The concept of Content Kits was in the FLEXIcontent roadmap in the past.

See these mentions . . .

FLEXIcontent beta4 countdown has started : multiple bug fixes and exclusive new features !!!

I found this info on the beta 4 page which says:
"This new system introduces a more ambitious feature in the upcoming RC release.
The content kit import/export feature!!!
This means the users will be able to import a complete content kit including the type,
its fields and the templates (item and category).
This kit could be considered as a component."

I think the Content Kit idea was lost when the project went into the dormant stage for awhile.
Now that the FLEXIcontent project is again alive and well perhaps this is a good time to resurrect this feature.

A Content Kit could include:
- Configuration
- - Alpha-Index
- - Comments
- Categories
- Fields
- Tags
- Templates
- - Categories
- - Items
- - Emails
- Types

I will start a new thread in the Features Request forum to get this back into consideration, and hopefully back into the roadmap.

(Zoo calls their installable content kits Apps)
