Unpublish on flexicontent field date

I'm writing a simple event calendar for my website. Besides some other fields I created a start-date/time field and an end-date/time field (using field type "date"). Is there a way to automatically unpublish an event(entry) at the time that is entered in the end-date field?

No, without hacking several places,

maybe instead the custom date field could have a parameter to display start/end publication dates

I will commit this since it has been requested before, thus a custom date field will be able to be used for displaying publish_up / publish_down date,

but note it will not be usable for filtering or ordering item lists

Cool thanks. Right now, my events are sorted by start date. This won't be possible anymore then?

I have looked at it again and it will be possible to filter and sort too
even with a custom date field that uses start/end (publish_up/publish_down) date
