What is the meaning of the "Approve version" option was created by akd01

Hi everyone,

(I'm working with last RC9b rev1601 for joomla 2.5)

I would like to know what the option "Approve version" ("Approuver la version" in french) on the edit content form in back office stand for.

I tested it long time ago (RC7-RC8?) and at that time the option locked the right to send a content for approval by a validator.
Now, even if I put it in "No" I can send the content for approval successfully.
I know the way the system handle the approbation workflow was redone for RC9 (already got this symptom on RC9a) , but I'm not sure if it's a bug or if it works as intended.

Hello, the "Approve Version" (related to document versioning) is not the same with non-publisher user's "Approval Request" (approval request of new items)

-- The Approve version is available only for people that can publish
