how to make prefix and suffix visible in form

Hi,

I remember that in a previous version of FC it was possible to display the prefix/suffix of a field in the item form.

This was useful to avoid entering an already entered value in the field.

ex: my film length is 86 min.
I have already fixed min. in suffix so the webmaster have only to enter 86.
If the suffix was displayed, he would remember not to enter the min. but because he can't see it, he enters it and boom we can see on the website: 86 min. min.

Could it be possible to see those prefix/suffix values on the edit form?

Field parameters have been cleaned-up and regrouped,

-- Specifically for:

prefix field value,
suffix fieldvalue,
separator,
open field tag,
close field tag

these have been separated to :
-- (a) value displaying
-- (b) form editing

Almost all fields have (a), but not all have (b)
-- e.g. (b) is meaningfull and available for radio, radioimage, checkbox, checkbox image, and relation reverse

What type of field are you speaking of ?
If you speak of text field maybe try to use parameters "default value" and "default value usage"

In text field, I use "suffix text for every value" to pre-fill the unit of measurement for instance.

It would be useful to have this suffix also visible when you edit the item as it was before and not only visible on the webpage.

I can't use default value because not every items has this field. The suffix is perfect because it is not visible if there is no value.

If we add this (prefix/suffix) to text field and someone enters there HTML , then it will break the field (text will be ok),

but ... we could add 2 parameter that strips HTML ...

I have requested this before.
We need to display pretext or posttext on item form/item edit form.
Some text fields are required to only enter numbers e.g. Kilogram/gram, Kilometer/meter, Hour/Min/Second.
If there are pretext/posttext on item form/edit form then it will definitely decrease wrong input as Author can see the Unit of value on text field.

I am adding this to text field, but it will strip HTML before displaying,

NOTE that you can alos use the field's description and select to display it as inline text , just above the value entering of the form.
