Back end vs front end Searching

Hello -

In the back end my searches work great.
How can I get the search to work in the front end?

I have a category list and when I type, e.g., 729, nothing shows up. However, it works perfectly in the backend.

Category view use natural word searching
and please note
1. it includes only fields marked as text searchable

2. includes words of 4 characters or bigger (this configurable in the MySQL DB)

3. Stopwords such as "and" and very common common words that appear to 50% of articles will not yield any results

I had marked my fields as text searchable. And the backend advanced searching works like a charm.

I will change the mysql db ini for two letters as some of the unique names are two letters long.

We could use the LIKE %word%
statement like it is done in backend,

but this may cause performance problem in frontend
