[solved] Frontend-edit categories is different thr. users

[Question]
How can i configure the GUI a user gets when frontend-editing an item's categories?
On my website, super-users correctly get a multi-select, but my client only sees a single-select (dropdown).

[Problem in detail]
When my client frontend-edits an item, it's categories are changed on save(): The item loses its former category plus subcategory it had before saving, leaving it with only the main-category left.

i'm sorry if i ask an answered question, but i cannot find the solution in the numerous options or here in the forum. i looked in FCs global config, in types, fields, forum search...

There is a global COMPONENT (ACL) permission for this

So if your user belong to user group A,
-- go to FLEXIcontent Dashboard and click the 'Configuration' button
-- then goto permissions TAB
-- there, you should give to user group A permission for 'assign to multiple categories'
