Optimising translation workflow

Hi,

I just have the honour to make a Russian translation of our company page (some irony included here...) and to do this manually is exhausting.

Not because I cannot speak one word Russian. There are translators out there. It is because Joomla and therefore FlexiContent has no workflow to duplicate a site structure...

It would be a great help if there would be an option to duplicate/translate a category including all subcategories and items. Ideally the items would be newly associated to the new (duplicated/translated) categories.

My category/item structure looks as follows (same for the German part of the page)

See what I mean? It is a nightmare to duplicate a site structure. I have 50+ categories with 350+ articles that are 30% associated to more then one category. An automated duplication procedure would save a massive amount of time. Massive...

Once the page is translated it is easier, because new articles and categories can be created manually. Even if there are 20 new articles a month this can be done without lots of time effort.

Any help or suggestions to make this easier is highly welcome!

so your site has categories with language (the language of your categories is not 'All')

thus you need to duplicate the categories too and not just the items inside them, right?

Right. I have 2 root categories called

English
German

and the category and item (association) structure is 90% the same.

Now I want to translate the page in Russian. Therefore I need to have a root folder

Russian

with the same category and item (association) structure. Even though I will only use 40% of the items, duplicating the the categories and item (association) structure would save lots of time. The actual translation (editing) of the duplicated items can be done easily. Also the menu and module adjustment is relatively easy!

indeed so we need to add "Translate Task" in categories too ... that will duplicate the selected categories and their items, changing the language and setting language associations too

This would be great. Please note that items can be assigned to more than one category...

In the case of more than one categories per item , NOTE:

-- 1. we will duplicate selected categories
-- 2. then the items of them are duplicated by examining them via their main category !

so, if the multiple categories are assigned to an item, but they were not duplicated during the procedure, THEN these categories will be discarded ...

this will be because there will be no category mapping to appropriate categories , so we will not know how to assign them

Thus : better have a top category English, German, Russian, etc and select this top level category for duplication,
