I created a category and simple article, I can see this already in the front end of the website.

Now I want to edit the category to add an image and likewise wish to edit the article to add a gallery of images to create extra fields with certain parameters.

They might help a bit to make the above process.

Exhibit images.

I searched for information on how to relate the categories with extra fields and the article but I have found this information.

Hello,

you can not relate fields to categories,
you can only relate fields to Content Types (aka to items)

About descriptions
1. please write inside the category description
2. you can use Joomla content plugins inside category description

- Nevertheless it is possible to use a Content Item as description of a category (we have done it for author view, maybe in future we will enable it for category view too)

Hello

the extra fields must be placed in a template position in order to appear

e.g. if your Content Type is using 'blog' template,
(i think you item view is using 'blog' template) please confirm in the Content Type backend listing (column 'template')

then goto template manager,
find line 'blog'
and at column item layout edit click to edit the layout
drag and drop the field into positions

I followed the suggestions you gave me and I have achieved my goal of showing the extra fields.
Exhibit images of the front end result.

Still there any way to edit the style and format of the final result (see pictures).

Hello

for item view it is better to use 'default' template or a copy of it 'default-1', 'default-2'

so better edit you content Type, go at bottom right and select to use template 'default'

NOTE: each template has 2 layouts:
- item (used in item view)
- category (used in category and content-listing like: multi-cats, author, my-items)
