Usage of core search index

Hello,

I wonder if the core search index plugins are still in use, as FC has its own indexing methods.

Can the core indexing plugins be deactivated, if searching is done only via FC? Ore are there still dependencies to be aware of?

the Joomla Smart search Index offers quick text search autocomplete and rather quick searching too but
1. it is quite slow when indexing (in a large site) you Rebuild index or when you save a content item,
2. Its index table consume a lot of DB space

-- so yes if you do not use Joomla smart search, then yes, disable the Joomla Finder plugins,

-- Furthermore latest FC version (v2.1.0 r1781+) also offers (in both category and search views) text-search autocomplete and fully faceted filters (=item count+hide/disable unavailable values and filter value combination parameter), these can appear as radio/checkbox (multi-value), select-drop down, ranges, tag-like selection (multi-value)

and is much faster during index building
... text search autocomplete is bit slower than Joomla smart search index, but takes into account current category (or current categories) too

so you would probably want to use FLEXIcontent built-in text search and filtering
