Hi,

Is it possible to create one single date field but have the possibility to have two values for this field, that is when submitting a new item, the author can select a starting date and an end date from the same field?

no,
but this a matter of custom functionality,

i mean a custom field could be doing anything ...

normally you would do this by creating 2 fields,
and achieve the same result ?

plus having 2 fields gives you the filtering capabilities of FLEXIcontent
