Hi

I couldn't really decide if this is a feature request or it's just asking for help ;) .

I want to have my items have a unique code (preferably with an special format Like: Y85Annnnn) that would be autonumbered like the item's ID.
This way I can call every item with an special an unique Code that with it's prefix or suffix that you can recall from its number that it's from a certain type of object.

Is there anyway to do this (like with text field)? or it needs an special type of field?

Another question (assuming there is a solution for that) , Can it be done auto-magically ;) when importing items from csv files, too?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
Regards

hello create a texte field and load this inside
Code:
{{item->id}}{{item->alias}}
use delete space option
it will generate a texte with
idalias
it's an example

Hi
Thank you so much , I used it this way:

Default value: my prefix : i.e. CO
Default value use: the above and also display it instead of empty
Suffix: {{item->catid}}{{item->id}}

it creates a meaningful unique number (catid means it's from a certain category).

THANKS again

I am trying to use this to give a number to the article. This works ok but if I change the category of the article the number changes.

How to I make it so that when an article is created it has a number that won't change when you move it?

For example I want the expired articles to move to another category (Archive) but don't want the number of the article to change. :?
