Hi!

I would like to know if there is a good way to restrict access to specific category for specific group of users of the Backend.

I explain : These users need to create articles in backend, but only on specific categories. But they can access all categories in frontend.

For the moment, they see all categories in backend.

What can i do?

Thank you!

Hello,

you mean hide them in category management TAB?

these categories will not be editable by users unless they have privilege to do so

Hi and thanks for your answer.

Well, i'm surely not clear. I will give examples :

There is a group of users. Let's say : "Director".

The group Director, in frontend, can see all items, in all categories (cat1, cat2, cat3).

In backend, the group Director need to create (or edit) some items, but only in cat2, for exemple. Is there a way to hide or forbid all other categories (cat1, cat3) when the group Director choose the category of the item, in backend?

Thank you!

Hello,

the category(ies) that a user can assign to items are controlled by the create privilege(like in Joomla article system too)

- install v2.1.3 r1824 (beta)
- do not assign (set neither "allow" nor "deny") the "Create privilege" for the Component level for this user-group
- go to the specific category that you want to allow your users to assign it to items, and set "ALLOW" for "create" privilege for this user-group

Regards
