jQuery autocomplete is not a function

hi there,

i get this error:
"jQuery(...).autocomplete is not a function"

It occurs in http[...]/components/com_flexicontent/assets/js/tmpl-common.js
line 320

I don't need jq-autocomplete, not even jq at all for that matter, since i manually link to it from a cdn. (I end up having jq twice at the moment.)
But disabling everthing jq-related in the FC-Config doesn't seem to have any effect.

I use [Joomla 2.5.19] and [FC 2.1.3 r1857]

thanks a lot!
kath :)

Hello

The above message means that jQuery UI is not loaded, or partly loaded or double loaded

2 Alternatives:

1. you can disable loading of JQuery in FLEXIcontent component parameters (1st TAB, the "options" TAB of parameters)

just make sure that both jQuery and jQuery UI is loaded
(do this manually in you Joomla template)

2. you can use jQueryEasy or similar extension to remove all loading of jQuery and jQuery UI out of the HTML source,

and then jQueryEasy will load the desired version

Regards

ok thanks - to make sure i got you right:
you write in alternative 1: 'just make sure that both jQuery and jQuery UI is loaded'.
Does that imply that the rror will always be there unless i include jQueryUI, even if i don'r use/need it?

Hello

yes FLEXIcontent category view uses the

tmpl_common.js

which assumes that jQuery/jQuery UI has been loaded
and the code inside it does not know if you are displaying any filters that need the jQuery autocomplete

so it tries to attach autocomplete to any found form elements having the appropriate class.

maybe we could do this:
1. search if these elements exist, and then try to attach autocomplete

2. check if jQuery autocomplete was loaded instead of giving an error , we can give a warning , or not try to load autocomplete at all ?

in case others search for this:
Using FC 2.1.3 r1857 I helped myself in tmpl-common.js with these steps:

1) near "// add Simple text search autocomplete" (~line 280):
replace: "// add Simple text search autocomplete"
by "// add Simple text search autocomplete
if(typeof jQuery.autocomplete==='function'){"

2) near "});" (~line 325):
close above if-statement by adding this line
"}"
