I've just created a new subdomain btest.naskpastoor.nl and installed a fresh joomla 3.2

Installed Flexicontent (cheers for the awesome extension) and added a couple of categories. Changed the layout settings of Flexicontent a bit. (no alpha numeric search etc.) Then I added all the user groups that i wanted. I noticed a couple settings in Flexicontent weren't the way I wanted so tried to change them (order of list layout) and ....

I couldn't change the Flexicontent settings. When I try to it throws me back to general settings without saving. When I delete the new groups, all works well again.

Now i've been trying a bit and found so far that adding 5 extra user groups is not a problem. Settings can be saved, although the settingspage loads very slowly. Adding a sixth (Which makes 15, including the standard onces which i kept intact) then it won't save the settings anymore.

Can anyone help me with some pointers because I need those extra usergroups and can't think of any reason this would effect the saving of the settings.

btw: only the flexicontent settings are effected. All other general settings can be saved without a problem.

strange .. flexicontent use joomla group function ...
can you try group wihtout flexicontent ? (just unstall it and test it, after reinstall flexicontent, nothing was lost)

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Thanks for the quick response. I uninstalled Flexi, added the extra user groups, then reinstalled Flexi. I hope this is what you ment for me to do.

It messed the site up a bit, but nothing serious. However I couldn't complete the install because, as a last step, you need to open the configuration (settings) and save them. As before, I couldn't. I deleted the extra user groups and.... I was able to save the settings of Flexi again.

I appreciate the help tho. I also learned that it does have something to do with the total amount of user groups. I deleted two of the standard user groups. Author and Editor, as im not going to use them anyway. So I was able to add two of my wanted groups without a problem. However, if the number of usergroups goes over 14... I won't be able to save the settings of Flexi.

hmm.

Hello

I couldn't change the Flexicontent settings. When I try to it throws me back to general settings without saving. When I delete the new groups, all works well again.

this indicates that you are on the margin of maximum allowed POST form fields

i think you have a margin of 1,000 form fields and our component configuration has more
(and each user groups cost about 10-20 more form fields ...)

Please increase the limit of 'max_input_vars' to 10000 as described here:
Resolving failed installation, because of server limitations

Sounds like thats my first problem is about the be solved. The next one is, how to change the max_input_vars I've read through the information you've provided and I seem to remember I've done it before on another website long ago, but how. The htaccess file is accessable through FTP right? I've put in max_input_vars=10000 but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Hello

please be specific

1. you put it in .htaccess or htacess file?

2. you added in it : ?
php_value max_input_vars 10000

3. did you visit Joomla's
Site/System information/PHP Information
to check what is the value of max_input_vars
before and after the change in the .htaccess file?

4. is you web server you using suhosin ? if so the the directive is:
php_value suhosin.post.max_vars 10000
php_value suhosin.request.max_vars 10000
(you can check if you are using at Site/System information/PHP Information by searching for word suhosin)
