Email alerts was created by davidote
Hi there again,

The developer of J!MailAlerts told me that the latest news plugin doesn't work with FlexiContent. Is there any way to create user alerts, choosing categories?

Regards.

Hello

alerts for which king of events ?

e.g. content added to category?

so for which kind of events ?

also the users will be administrator configurable, or the users will mark categories as favourable ?

A user can subscribe to alerts for new news of categories to which he or she has access. In J! MailAccess you can choose the categories you want to receive alerts. The subscribed user receives an email with the headline and the abstract of the news of the categories to which he or she has access. But the plugin of J!MailAccess doesn't support Flexicontent. The author of J! MailAccess has no interest in this issue.

Hello

1. besides trigger a "subscribe" or "add category to favorites" plugin FLEXIcontent category view, take note that FLEXIcontent has multi-category assignments per item so a little more work would be needed

2. there were some requests asking to support "favorites" (=we will call it subscribe) feature for categories and not just for items

if the above is done
then to support notification for new content will be easy because email notifications feature for new content already exists (for pre-configured user/usergroups) so support for subscribers should be similar, at least for single item notifications,

but then we would need a cron Job to allow single emails when multiple content is added e.g. with a day, etc

or we could give code to J!MailAlerts for supporting FLEXIcontent (= this should probably be the least work solution)

will keep this in mind, for FLEXIcontent v2.2.1

Regards

Both options are interesting.

1º When the new version you mention would be released? I know that is a free software and it has its limitations.

2º If you could give code to J!MailAlerts for supporting FLEXIcontent. I'll ask J!MailAlerts about this.

Thank you very much.
