Link lightbox-images to originally uploaded high-res image

I use an image field to display my article images.
The image field is configured to open a large image if I click on my article image which is the medium version.
I use all three image versions, small, medium and large in my categories and articles. Large for the leading article in category view, small for all other articles in category view and medium for articles in item view. The problem is, that my large image has a rather not suitable format for lightbox view because it's quite wide and not very high and is cropped when it's uploaded, so it would be great if I could link the article image to the original image that is uploaded, which always is a quite large and high-res image and is therefore appropriate for display in a lightbox.
I use Joomla 3.3 and FC 2.2.0

Hello

-- in v2.2.0 it is possible to use original image, just disable of protection of original images (near the top, parameter: "Prevent access to original images ...")

-- about cropping, there is a parameter

so i don't understand what is the feature request that you are describing

Regards

Hello,
cropping works fine, but in my case the feature to link the original image did not work. I did set the image field to not protect the original images. After setting this, I deleted all thumbnails so FC would create them new (to be on the safe side).
For this feature to work properly, does the image field have to be in folder mode? I use DB-mode, so this may be, why it doesn't work.
What happens, when I switch from DB mode to folder mode (I already have 2500 articles that have images bound to them in DB mode)?
I attached a screenshot of my field settings to this post, maybe it helps.
Best regards.

Hello

yes feature is for folder mode only

-- since you have image field in "DB-mode" (you cannot change this)
you may try to manually delete the .htaccess file in "SECURE" folder to see if original images appear

if i remember correctly this file is restored only when you upgrade FC (or image field in folder mode you control this via the parameter that we mentioned above)
