How to not show the id number in SEF URL

My FC URL part always have id number.
like this url content the "9" and "477" id number.
news/9-news-event/477-videgree-love-thanksgiving-limited-time-offer-customers-solutions
Are there any setting to make the id not in the url?

Some SEF components might also work. Wyh do you want to get rid of the numbers?

yes use acesef or 404shsef to do this

Please keep in mind that an additional SEF component might cause additional security and performance issues. Also, the SEF links are stored in the database and are not created on the fly. I stopped using those components with the introduction of Joomla 2.5.
So, what is the reason? Cosmetic?

maybe a good policy maybe to create 1 menu item per category

this way you will not have ids for the category segment

anyway after the numbers the category and item aliases are placed which gives good SEF URLs,


Joomla article URLs are created in a similar way, just FC has some more logic and some more options,

e.g. for some types you can enable using:

/default-menu-item-for-type/id-item-alias

also note that v2.2.0 r1932 fixes (some issues we have in v2.1.3) / and improves SEF URL creation in both logic and performance, but of course using ids is not changed !!
