Hello

in v2.2.0 r1955,

In component permissions, give to the user-group:

- Items (Item edit Form): change category assignment
- Items (Item edit Form): change secondary category assignments
- Items (Item edit Form): change featured category assignments

AND

- Categories (Item edit Form): Assign multiple categories to items

NOTE:
you can override per content type:
==> edit your content type(s) and click to open the permissions slider ...

Hello, thanks for your answer. But it is still locked. I don't know where I can set the permission to allow the user to select other cateries. So where can I set that?

(just to notify, the image of the state of the article is buggy in this version)

Hello

which FC version do you have ?

-- please go to content type and check the ACL permissions,
-- also does your user belong in more that 1 user groups?

e.g. if it "belongs" to both
- Registered
- and Managers

and you deny the above for "Registered" then giving permission to "Managers" has no effect

if you have r1955, this must be an ACL mis-configuration

I took the version you told me: v2.2.0 r1955 the release candidate.
And yes the user is in Registered, but the level access is set to registrered. So it should not be a problem?

Hello

when a user belongs to multiple groups

then
- it must be allowed in at least 1 of them
- in all other user groups, it must be either
a. allowed or
b. inherited (not set in parent (component) = soft deny) or
c. inherited (set in parent (compoent) to allow)

the above is how Joomla ACL works

if you still suspect a bug, then you may send me a PM with details
- super admin account
- username / password of your editor
- the item id of the item that i need to edit to see the problem

Regards

Hello,
Once again, thank you very much for your support, your reactivity and availability!

I am really sorry, but in fact it was a problem with ACL Manager vs permissions of FLEXIcontent...
So, just to comfort you, from what I can see, if I set permission only from the configuration of flexicontent, I have no problem and it works.

But, every time I use the ACL Manager to set some permissions, it erases some permissions of flexicontent as:
"Categories (Item edit Form): Assign multiple categories to items"

Thus, I have to go then in the permission of flexicontent set this permission to allowed and then it is ok.

Another problem, more disturbing, with ACL manager, is that, the first time I assign a user to a group, the permission are set correctly (except it erases the multiple category as said before) but then, I can change assign user to another group, or set other permission from acl manager, it will change nothing! (And believe me, I saved ^^ ). Once again I have to go to the System->configuration->Flexicontent->permissions and save. From here, the permissions set by acl manager will be applied. As if flexicontent don't take into account the changes made from another extension (which might be a bug from you, I don't know).

Anyway as I said, it works if only using the system->configuration->Flexicontent to set the permissions.

Hello

it would be a lot easier if ACL manager implemented compatibility with FC, since doint the opposite would be 10x work on our part,

i said the above to point out the amount of work needed

the reason is this:

while FLEXIcontent is installed:
-- categories are set to inherit ACL from FLEXIcontent component instead of com_content (Joomla article manager component)

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.

Yes, ok that explain why there is problem with category, but it doesn't explain why a change from acl manager (for a permission of a joomla component) is not applied until we press save from the menu system->configuration->flexicontent.

There is bug though, with the display of the icon state of the article (in the frontend+backend)
joomla 3.2.1 + flexi 2.2.0 r1955
Have you a release date for the next version?

Hello

FLEXIcontent does some caching of ACL per user,

e.g. these are cleared when FLEXIcontent configuration is saved
