I want my site editors to be able to select from a list of teachers in this dropdown. IF the teacher is not in this list, I want them to be able to add a new teacher by clicking a button to the right. Like this screenshot below.

Right now, I just have a text field (addteacher) below the select field (teacher) to type in a name manually. Then the select field dynamically updates using this sql query. I don't know if I have the right code though.

Code:

SELECT value AS value, value AS text FROM #__flexicontent_fields_item_relations WHERE field_id=16

Is this the right way? Or is there a better, shorter way to do same thing? Basically I want the data from field ADDTEACHER to show up in the field TEACHER as select options.

use text select field !

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?
