Various contents on homepage

Hi,
I'm quite new in Flexicontent. I'm working on the new website of our college but can't find the way to have various content types on my homepage. I would like to have :
- an image (that opens a specific topic when you click on it)
- latest news
- photo-gallery (linked to activities topic when you click)
- A googlemap module showing the location of the school

What sort of menu do I have to choose for my homepage? "Single item, category list, blog" are only to show one content like an article or a list of articles but not to split the page into different types of contents.

Or do I have to use modules and place them in different positions to make this?

Hello

short answer:

-- when various items of different content types belong to the same category AA then they will be listed when you link to the category AA


how to do it:
1. create a category called "Homepage"
2. assign category "Homepage" as your secondary categty of your items
3. Make a new FLEXIcontent menu item of type "Category" and assign it as you website HOME


Also
-- goto Joomla plugins manager and edit plugin "FLEXIcontent advanced route plugn" and exclude HOME page from creating direct links to it
-- if you want to use category ordering e.g. instead of "order by title", etc then in items manager FILTER by category "HOMEPAGE" and set the ordering of items
(items can have category ordering in ALL of their categories)

create a type home
add X field for x content
- an image => galerie field with link to url option
- latest news => load module (you can load an universal module with good config)
- photo-gallery => galerie field with url option or universal module how load X articles of categorie and load image of specific field
- A googlemap module showing the location of the school => field googlemaps

=>duplicate basic template like blog and rename to home
=> put your field in position
=> create a link to you item for home

I finally chose for finding extra modules and putting them in the different positions available on my template. From now it's ok so I will continue this way.
