Large site upgrade and Joomfish import

Hi,

Here is my situation.
I have to upgrade a site running on Joomla 1.7 with Joomfish. The site has 3260 articles.
And since we are extending the site with additional section on the new version that will require the beauty of FlexiContent, i need to import everything in FC.

I've check the following 2 thread on this forum
www.flexicontent.org/forum/index ... =viewtopic
and
www.flexicontent.org/forum/index ... =viewtopic

But since they are old threads and i know there has been lots of development since then, I wanted to check the best approach before starting as they are a lot to do on that site.

I suppose that I need to install FC to import the content before i do any upgrade since joomfish will not work on Joomla 3.3.6.

So here is the process that i tried but does not seem to work:
1) install FC
2) import all joomla articles
3) import translation from Joomfish. Is there a way to do import all at once, or at least in batch so they are mapped with their default language version?
4) uninstall Joomfish
4) once everything is imported and mapped, upgrade the site from J1.7 to J2.5.8 to J3.3.6

Does anyone have experience doing so?
Or is there a better approach or things i should look for?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello

i understand that Joomfish for J1.7 has translations association of articles that are different than Joomla 3.x associations

i suggest that you convert Joomfish J1.7 associations to Joomla 3.x associations

-- FLEXIcontent v3.1 (v3.0 ?) will use J3.x associations
(so wait for FLEXIcontent v3.1)

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Thanks ggppdk for your help.

I'm not sure i understand what you mean or how this can be done.

How can i convert joomfish in J1.7 to J3.x association?
I've search quite extensively and did not find anything regarding converting joomfish content.
As far i as i know, FC seems to be the only thing importing contents from Joomfish aside from falang or josetta.

Regarding FC v3.1, nice to hear an update is coming. There is always some cool stuff happening with FC upgrade.

I understand and respect release schedule. i'm not trying to push or anything, but since i'm working on this project for an important client, waiting might not be an option for him, unless v3.1 is about to be release with the coming week or 2.

Hello

FLEXIcontent can import

J1.5 Joomfish translations
or
J2.5/J3.x Falang translations

the above are converted as new items

-- we never implemented import for J1.7/J2.5 Joomfish associations (which associated real Joomla articles)

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.

Thanks micker,

I'm not trying to be the lazy guy here, but i've search even more following your answer and i really can not find anything explaining how i can import joomfish translation while keeping association.

If you have a link or something in that regard, i would really appreciate it. Since i have more than 3000 articles, doing it manually is simply out of question.

Some people talk about first importing in josetta or KM FasTrans. But i don't see how this will work with FC.

Although, Reading about josetta, it says that it is actually using the joomla content tables for translation. Therefore i'm wondering if migrating first joomfish to josetta, and then importing in FC; would work?

What do you think?

Do you know when FC 3.x will be out?
