More than one Item in a Template

First I'd like to say I am new to Flexicontent and very excited to see what I can do with it!

I would like to make a Template for art tutorials: Articles, with thumbnails at the end which represent the materials needed to create the art. So I want to create a Template that includes multiple tems:
  • The first item Type is a standard article.
  • The second item Type is a thumbnail with attributes (name, description, URL, etc). Clicking on the thumbnails will direct the reader to where they can buy/order the art materials.

I'd like these thumbnails (and their associated attributes) to be a separate content Type/database, so that the site admin can pick from a large list of pre-made thumbnail Items and append them to any given article. Many of the materials will be used in more than one tutorial, so creating a pre-defined list of materials will save time in the long run and make it easier for the site admin (who is not Joomla-savvy) by allowing them to simply select multiple items from a thumbnail pick list, rather than having to manually enter the thumbnail-name-description-URL-etc with each new tutorial.

Here is an example I was given , which I'd like to replicate and semi-automate (at the bottom of the article, the 'Supplies Used' section).

Hopefully I've explained it properly. So far in my searches I have not found a clear way to accomplish this, I would be grateful for and guidance in how I can accomplish this using Flexicontent.

Thank you for reading!

Hello

1. you need to create 2 content types:

art work
material

2. assign fields to your content types

3. among these fields there should be an:
image-gallery field (in 'folder mode') assigned to:
material

4. assign a "relation" field to content type artwork, and set it to display items of type "material"

-- the 'relation' field has an HTML parameter in which you can add HTML, item link and -fields- e.g. the image field so that the list of material, will have all needed information

-- in item form when you edit an "artwork" item you will be able to select materials

5. Go to template manager and edit the ITEM LAYOUT of that the "artwork" content type is using, e.g. 'mymaterial' or 'default' and drag and drop fields you need and also add the "relation" field into a template position

this way when an "artwork" item is displayed, you will get a list of material needs

Fantastic - thank you!!! I've almost got it. At the moment I have the following in the item HTML section of the Relation field.:
Code:
<div> {{url01}} {{material01}} __display_text__ </div>

This displays the hyperlink, the thumbnail (which links to the original image - I have to figure out where to disable that), and the material name.

I'd like to wrap {{url}} around {{material}} so that clicking on the image will go to the URL specified for that Material. So I need to understand the correct syntax for formatting output with item HTML.

Can you help?
