Hello, the site I am working with does not require any editing access at the front end by any user group at all. Is there recommended settings to disable editing in the front completely?

if you realy want more use acl rule for each group

you can disable the (display) of EDIT button in component settings
- edit button (All views TAB)
- edit button in lists (Lists: item data TAB)
but the edit ability is still enabled for those with permission
